Manchester United are continuing talks with Holland and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as they prepare a bid this window.
Zirkzee has a £33.7million buy out clause and has been targeted by AC Milan who were considered front runners for his signature.
Arsenal have also posted interest but United’s positive negotiations have put them in a strong position ahead of making their offer. As Mail Sport reported last week, though a bid is not considered imminent, one is expected.
United have a limited budget as their £43m bid for Everton‘s Jarrad Branthwaite reflected but they plan to sell Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood who are both valued at £40m.
Juventus, Valencia and Napoli have made firm approaches for 22-year old Greenwood.
Fenerbahce hold interest in Victor Lindelof while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also attracting enquiries.
Zirkzee is a player in demand after his impressive displays for Bologna.
Last season Zirkzee caught the eye as he scored 12 goals in all competitions, while his link up play was also of a high standard as he provided seven assists.
United are eager to bring in a new forward who could provide an alternative option to Rasmus Hojlund.
At the age of 23, Zirkzee has plenty of time to develop further, while he also received a late call up to the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.
Zirkzee was previously at Bayern Munich and scored four goals in 17 senior games for the German giants.
