Manchester United have held talks with Joshua Zirkzee’s camp as they consider a summer move for the Bologna striker.
Dutch forward Zirkzee, part of the Netherlands squad at Euro 2024, is believed to be open to a move to the Premier League as a potential switch to AC Milan stalls.
It is understood that Man United boss Erik ten Hag is looking for competition for Rasmus Hojlund going into the new campaign.
Zirkzee has also been touted as a potential option for Arsenal as they too look for attacking reinforcements.
A deal could cost the relatively modest sum of £34million, due to a release clause in the 23-year-old’s Bologna deal.
Attention in his services comes after Zirkzee scored 11 goals in 34 Serie A games last season.
His contributions helped Bologna to a fifth-place finish in the league, which has seen them qualify for the Champions League next season.
Zirkzee is currently with the Netherlands at Euro 2024 after receiving a late call-up to Ronald Koeman’s squad.
The forward had been holidaying at Disney World in Florida when he got the call as one of his country’s replacements for injured duo Frenkie de Jong and Teun Koopmeiners.
And he was named on the bench for their opening Group D match at Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion against Poland.
However he was an unused substitute, as Wout Weghorst was preferred instead off the bench, with the towering centre-forward scoring the winner in the 83rd minute.
But he could be in line to make his international debut against France on Friday night.
Prior to joining Bologna in 2022, Zirkzee was on Bayern Munich’s books, where he scored four goals in 17 matches between 2019-2021.
He also enjoyed loan spells at Parma and Anderlecht, before eventually departing the Allianz Arena on a permanent deal.
