A man was hurt after trying to tackle four thieves during a raid at a store at Deepdale Shopping Park on Monday lunchtime.



Preston Police were called to Sports Direct in the retail park around 1.20pm on Monday (17 June) after reports of £1,000 worth of items being taken.

Police say the gang of four ran to a grey Vauxhall Astra parked in Blackpool Road.

A man who chased them from the store was knocked down by the car – causing suspected broken ribs along with cuts to his head and back.

Police have arrested four people, all from Leeds. A 37-year-old woman is being questioned on suspicion of assault, theft and driving without insurance.

A 20-year-old man, 17-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy are all being questioned on suspicion of assault.

An appeal has been launched for witnesses, CCTV footage and dashcam footage.
