- An Italian man decapitated his brother’s head and threw it from a balcony
- He then turned himself in to police custody
- Cops are investigating the motive behind the grisly fratricide
An Italian man has turned himself in to police after he decapitated his brother before tossing his head over a balcony following a vicious argument.
The man, named locally as 59-year-old Benito, got into a bitter feud with his brother, 65-year-old Annibale, in their home in Pannarano, a small town around 25 miles outside of Naples, last night.
While it is currently unclear what exactly the argument was about it was loud enough that neighbours heard, and it reached a point where Benito grabbed a knife and viciously attacked his brother.
Benito, whose last name is not currently known, reportedly handed himself into the police, who arrived at the family’s home to find Annibale’s headless body covered in stab wounds.
Italian media reported that the brothers had been unhappily living with each other after Annibale returned from Rome, having recently retired and lost his wife.

Neighbours said that arguments were loud but happened so often they did not take notice of last night’s feud, until they saw Annibale’s head in the street.
Italian national police, the Carabinieri, are investigating the horrific crime, and have been speaking to friends and acquaintances of the brothers to uncover a motive for the murder.
After speaking to Benito overnight, they took him to a prison in Benevento, which lies roughly 9 miles northeast of Pannarano.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Benevento has since opened a formal investigation.
It is set to task a coroner with autopsying the victim’s body, which currently lies in the morgue of the nearby San Pio hospital in Benevento.
