Man City set for Muric windfall after goalkeeper agrees £10m Premier League move

Must read

Manchester City are set to bank a windfall from Aro Muric’s imminent move from Burnley to Ipswich.

The 25-year-old, who joined City from Grasshopper nine years ago, made just five first-team appearances during his time at the Etihad Stadium, all of which came in the Carabao Cup during the 2018/19 campaign.

He then spent time out on loan at NAC Breda, Nottingham Forest, Girona, Willem II and Adana Demirspor before leaving City on a permanent deal in July 2022. He reunited with former City captain Vincent Kompany at Burnley on a four-year contract worth £2.5million plus add-ons.

During his first season at Turf Moor, Muric helped Burnley win the Championship and earn a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances. Despite this, Muric was displaced as the No.1 at the Clarets at the start of last season following the arrival of James Trafford from City.

However, Muric won his place back for the final 10 matches as he fought to keep Burnley in the Premier League. Though Muric came in and impressed, the Clarets could not stay in the top-flight and were relegated back down to the second tier. This saw Kompany leave and join Bayern Munich, with Scott Parker replacing him.

Now, Muric could be set to follow Kompany out of the exit door. But instead of moving to Bavaria, the Kosovan is on his way to Suffolk after agreeing to join newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich. According to Sky Sports, Ipswich are set to sign Muric for around £10m with the goalkeeper set for a medical.
