Pep Guardiola will be anxiously watching on this summer as his players go off to represent their countries at Euro 2024 and Copa America.
Manchester City have more individuals competing at the Euros (14) than any other club, raising the risk of potential injuries ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Sky Blues will be looking to defend their top-flight crown once again, holding off likely competition from Arsenal and Liverpool in a bid to secure top spot for the fifth campaign in succession.
Before that takes place, there will be plenty of transfer chat – some of which we have rounded up below.

Cristian Romero move urged
Former Argentina centre-back Sergio Vazquez has admitted he would like to see Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristiano Romero sign for City.
Romero initially joined the Lilywhites on loan during the 2021/22 season and saw his stay made permanent on the back of this successful stint.
Part of the Argentina side that claimed the 2022 World Cup, his talent was showcased for all to see and he is likely to continue improving as a player.
Making a case for a transfer to City, Vazquez told La Oral Deportiva via El Grafico: “He is the best number 2 in history of Argentine football.
“We are in the presence of someone who can come out playing, who can burst it, who has presence and who if he has to hit, he hits you. At his age, he is a kid who gives you confidence when the ball comes to him.
“I would like to see him at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. We found a central duo for the next ten years. Both (Lisandro) Martínez and Cuti have oriented controls that allow them to reduce the time when giving a pass.”
MEN Sport says: Romero, although erratic at times, has shown he is a capable defender and someone who is capable of competing at Premier League level. Should City feel a need to strengthen in this part of the pitch, the 26-year-old would not be a bad option and would provide quality to the backline. It seems unlikely Spurs would want to do a deal, however, making this a challenging task.
Perrone plan
City midfielder Maximo Perrone has confirmed he expects to be loaned out by the club again next season.
The Argentine, who was signed from Vélez Sarsfield by the Citizens in 2023, spent last term in La Liga with Las Palmas and helped the club avoid relegation to the second tier. He made his debut for the Sky Blues in February 2023 and has two appearances to his name in total.
Now set for another temporary move away, Perrone told Marca: “We reached an agreement that there will be one more transfer. I think that to continue with the adaptation, one more year in La Liga would be the best.”
Asked whether a return to Las Palmas is on the cards, the 21-year-old added: “I think you have to look at the options. It’s still very early. You have to take it calmly and choose the best option.
“I was looking to do my first season in Europe and I think it has been very good. I have played around 30 games and started most of them. I knew it was going to come and it wasn’t going to be right from the start, that I had to fight and, in the end, I managed to play a lot. I’ll stick with that.”
MEN Sport says: A loan could well be the best option for all parties, with gametime at City likely to be restricted once again in 2024/25 for Perrone. Guardiola will no doubt be keeping an eye on his progress from afar ahead of potential first-team chances at City in the future.
