Man and two women stabbed in city centre shopping street – 17 year old arrested

A teenager has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man and a two women in a busy city centre street.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of chasing the group of friends along Gardner Street in Brighton’s North Laine before stabbing the trio.

An 18-year-old woman suffered injuries while a man and a woman, both 20, suffered serious knife injuries in the late night attack.

A Sussex Police spokesman said the trio were chased by two people at around 11pm on January 12 this year.

Two 17-year-olds were arrested the following day and were bailed pending further enquiries.

Now, a 17-year-old from Brighton has been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault, possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting a police officer.

He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

He is due to appear in court again on Tuesday, June 11.
