There’s no place like London in the summer, and with a jam-packed schedule of sport on the horizon, 2024 is set to be a season you’ll remember.
When it comes to tuning in to some of the next few month’s sporting highlights, forget about missing the sunshine and balmy evenings stuck indoors in front of the TV and instead head to St James’s Market, just off Piccadilly Circus, where you can expect extensive coverage of Wimbledon, the Olympics and the Paralympics, all in a charming setting.
Catch Wimbledon, the Olympics and Paralympics
The Crown Estate
Starting on Monday 1 July in St James’s Market, you’ll be able to see all of the Wimbledon action until Sunday 14 July – then, from Friday 26 July, expect comprehensive coverage of the Paris Olympics, right until the closing ceremony on Sunday 11 August. And finally, catch all the Paralympics action from Wednesday 28 August until Sunday 8 September.
Discover great places to eat
And while you’re in the area, why not make an occasion of it? After all, Regent Street and St James’s is home to a wide-range of great restaurants – including plenty of options for alfresco dining – as well as an impressive shopping offering.
Surrounding the screening area, you’ll find Toba – which serves authentic Indonesian fare; Fowl by Fallow’s inventive take on the chicken shop; and fresh Neapolitan-inspired street food at ‘O Ver, but this is a mere flavour of the area’s culinary repertoire.
You can take a step back from London’s fast pace and enjoy the alfresco vibes in Heddon Street’s foodie quarter, where you’ll find the likes of Casa do Frango, Sabor, Heddon Street Kitchen (Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant) and Ziggy Green – or soak in the views from one of the chic rooftops, such as Aqua Nueva just off Regent Street.
Make the most of incredible shopping

Once you’ve caught your favourite event, it’s worth making time for a bit of shopping, too: whether you favour fashion institutions such as Liberty London and Dover Street Market or high-street favourites and best-in-class boutiques, Regent Street and St James’s offering is incredible.
Meanwhile, if all the sport has inspired your athletic side, the Gymshark flagship runs free workout classes throughout the week.
