Love Island has officially crowned its 2024 winners.

Monday night’s (July 29) live final saw host Maya Jama announce the news that Josh and Mimii had won the series, securing the £50,000 cash prize and beating favourites Ciaran and Nicole, who finished in second place.

Earlier in the night, it was revealed that Ayo and Jess finished in fourth place, with Sean and Matilda finishing in third.

“Feeling overstimulated, overwhelmed, so grateful,” said Mimii after the result was announced, before Josh thanked the fans for voting for them.

Viewers quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the winning couple, with one writing: “Mimii and Josh deserved to win.”

Another added: “Omgggg this is better than winning the euros,” while a third commented: “Mimii and Josh just made Love Island history.”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: “OMG guys the way I just ran all over the house screaming like a mad woman. I can’t believe this. Mimii and Josh, you guys. My winners.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the finalists were seen enjoying one last dinner together, with each couple sharing their declarations of love for each other.

Nicole and Ciaran emotionally looked back on their first day in the villa, while Mimii opened up to Josh, calling him “attentive, kind, gentle and loving”.

“Thank you for showing me qualities that I thought were unrealistic in this day and age,” she added, before Josh shared a heartfelt poem he had written.

Jess spoke about her “special bond” with Ayo, before Sean happily revealed he’s “in love” with Matilda. As is tradition, the group ended their time in the villa by jumping into the pool, collectively chanting: “Love Island baby!”

While the show’s summer edition has come to an end, fans can look forward to the All Stars series returning in 2025.

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
