Ruth Langsford caused Loose Women to suddenly cut to a break when she mentioned her divorce from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes.
The TV presenter, 64, who announced their split in May, made a not-so-subtle dig at her former partner on today’s episode of the ITV show.
Former This Morning co-hosts Ruth and Eamonn had been together for more than two decades when they shocked fans by announcing their split, citing that they had ‘drifted in different directions’.
Eamonn has since gone public with his relationship with new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 43, while Ruth remains publicly single.
Making a rare comment on the situation, Ruth weighed on how ‘selfish’ some parents can be when it comes to making their children pick sides after a divorce.
During a conversation on Tuesday’s Loose Women, she suggested that so far their divorce has not been going ‘well’.

Ruth appeared on the daytime programme alongside her co-hosts Coleen Nolan, Kelly Holmes and Mariella Frostrup as they discussed making children choose between their parents and their potential partner.
Mariella started off by saying: ‘I just think it’s madness. You know for a fact, no matter what position you take in your child’s life, if you entrench yourself too deeply they are going to do the opposite thing anyway.’
She continued: ‘How on earth would the inclusion of someone in family life be worth the jeopardy of not talking to your child anymore, I just can’t imagine it.’
Coleen also shared her opinion as she explained: ‘I think it is important for parents to let their children find out for themselves and it might work out and they spend the rest of their lives together but it might be that they end up heartbroken and that’s when as a parent you step in.’
Talk soon turned to how divorced parents handle those types of situations and Ruth went on to admit: ‘I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents say well if they are divorced then I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming or if she is there and I just think it’s so selfish isn’t it because it is their day.’
Mariella jumped in and said: ‘That’s a whole other subject isn’t it? How to divorce well.’
Ruth took aim at her recent split from Eamonn as she replied: ‘Oh tell me about it.’
Everyone looked surprised before Ruth added: ‘Anyway funnily it’s now time for a break’.

The trip comes as Eamonn, also 64, was seen publicly with his new partner, Katie while Ruth showcased a fresh look with blonde hair extensions.
A source revealed to The Sun that the opportunity to join the Jungle’s spin-off show Unpacked had been a welcome distraction for Ruth during a challenging year.
They said: ‘It’s been a tough year for Ruth and she’s been putting her best foot forward, she’s thrilled to have been asked to appear on the spin off show and fly to Australia ahead of Christmas.
Meanwhile, Eamonn shared his gratitude and opened up on his ‘tough year’ as he attended his first event with his new girlfriend last week.
He has battled many health woes this year and recently revealed he ‘can no longer walk or look after himself.’
After surgery on his back in 2022 for a slipped disc, the GB News host has not been able to walk unaided and often relies on a wheelchair.
Speaking at the event Eamonn admitted he was glad to see the end of 2024, while being supported by his girlfriend.

Eamonn and Ruth announced their plans to divorce in June after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.
Now, Katie, who enjoyed a romantic cruise with the TV star earlier this year, has told friends she is in it for ‘the long haul’ with Eamonn.
She has been helping him through his split from Ruth, but her friends say she is at pains to point out that their friendship only blossomed into a relationship once Eamonn’s marriage was over.
