Lollipop Chainsaw Repop release date announced with gameplay trailer
Despite first being announced as a remake and then switching to a remaster, we’re glad Dragami went with the latter for Lollipop Chainsaw RepRop, because this trailer is a nostalgic treat. It looks like we’ll see the return of all of the original game’s wacky bosses as the chainsaw-wielding cheerleader, Juliet Starling, cuts her way through hordes of zombies to a rock ‘n roll soundtrack.
Those of you who have played the original Xbox 360 version may notice a lack of colorful gore explosions from the zombies as Juliet cuts them down, and that’s because Lollipop Chainsaw RePop includes two different gameplay modes: Original and RePop. Dragami says that Original mode will play like the original game, gore and all, while RePop offers “less violence and uses pop-art damage effects.”
“Throw logic to the wind and embrace your instincts! The legendary zombie hunter Juliet is finally back in 4K,” the trailer’s description reads. “The cheerleader Juliet, born into a family of zombie hunters, uses her trusty chainsaw to rip and tear through the undead! But now that RePOP adds speedier chainsaw action and auto-fire for her chainsaw blaster, the action never slows down till the very end!
“And it’s not just the gameplay that’s been improved, the visuals and soundtrack have been powered up too! Don’t miss out on this unparalleled zombie-hunting adventure!”
Lollipop Chainsaw RePop launches on Xbox Series X|S on September 25, which is shaping up to be a great month for returning games.
