Lloyds down: Online banking outage hits thousands of Lloyds and Virgin Money customers

Thousands of Lloyd’s Bank and Virgin Money customers are experiencing problems with online banking leaving them unable to check their accounts or transfer funds.

According to the website Down Detector, around 650 Lloyd’s customers have reported having issues with online and mobile banking since around 7am today.

Most of the issues are with online banking (78 per cent), while 21 per cent have reported problems with mobile banking.

And on the same platform, over 400 customers have logged problems accessing their Virgin Money accounts.

Frustrated customers have taken to X (formerly Twitter) sharing their experiences and seeking support from the major banks.

“PC online banking showing no transactions? What’s going on?”, wrote one, while another added, “I’m experiencing the same thing with online banking.”

A third wrote that the app “shows no transactions in all mode and appears to have emptied one of my accounts!”

Others have reported that they are unable to authorise payments required by the app.

One user wrote: “The problem these days is that banking site/apps updates are rushed through by the IT devs over weekends and clearly not fully tested before going live.”

Another shared what he seemed to think was a workaround to the problem.

“I am experiencing the same problem with app and desktop, but when I export to PDF from desktop it shows all the transactions”, he wrote.

“Thx for sharing,” another user replied. “Obvs we still need the issue sorting. I am v reluctant to use the app to make payments right now.”

A Lloyd’s Bank representative is responding to customer complaints on X and saying the company is aware of the problem.

“We know some of our customers are having issues viewing their recent transactions. We’re sorry about this, and we’re working to have it back to normal soon. David.”

One disgruntled Virgin Money customer wrote: “Please can you fix your app. It’s completely unacceptable that this app crashes more than it works. Sort it out”.

Virgin Money has also shared an update on X.

“We’re aware that some customers are having issues with our mobile banking app and internet banking service this morning with customers not being able to view their transactions.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing – we’re investigating and will keep you updated.”
