Liverpool post job advert on LINKEDIN for innovative coaching role under incoming manager Arne Slot… as they take a leaf out of Arsenal’s book

Liverpool have turned to LinkedIn to recruit a potentially key coaching cog in Arne Slot‘s revolution.

Most elite-level football appointments aren’t conducted over the the networking and jobs platform, home of some of the most pretentious posts known to man.

Now anybody has the chance to put themself forward for the role, which is described as ‘mid-senior level’ at the club.

Slot will join Liverpool on June 1 as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp, who has stepped down after nine years at the helm.

He plans to make Sipke Hulshoff, his assistant at Feyenoord, the first appointment to his backroom staff, according to ESPN.

Liverpool are advertising for a forward-thinking coaching role under Arne Slot

The club wants a set-piece coach to take them to the next level, apparently working 35 hours per week

However, there will be space for a brand-new set-piece coach, as revealed by the club’s post on LinkedIn.

This journalist wondered if he might be qualified for the post, but was informed by LinkedIn that he lacked 10 key skills, including ‘change management’, ‘computer competency’, and, perhaps most significantly, ‘football’.

A leading candidate could be Thomas Gronnemark if he fancied it, considering Klopp used him as a consultant throw-in coach during his tenure.

Clubs are taking notice after the impact set-piece coach Nicolas Jover has had at Arsenal this season, radically increasing the percentage of goals they have scored from set pieces.

The Gunners scored 22 goals from set pieces this season, more than any other side, including an all-time Premier League record of 16.

Those 22 goals equated to over 24 per cent of their 91 in total.

Liverpool’s role is advertised at 35 hours per week, which feels rather generous.

It is listed as a hybrid role but the main area of work will, of course, be the club’s AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.

Helpfully, the salary is listed as ‘competitive’ and the victor will be entitled to 25 days of holiday (plus eight bank holidays and the option to purchase up to an additional five days) alongside a contributory pension scheme.
