Liverpool fans prepare to say goodbye to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield – live updates

Our reporter Andrew Nuttall is at Jurgen’s Bar to watch the match with Liverpool fans. We will be bringing you updates throughout the 90 minutes and afterwards.

Hannah has spoken to Johanna Umbach and her husband Frank Umbach who travelled to Liverpool two days ago from Hannover in Germany.

Johanna said: “Its the last chance to see a match with Jurgen Klopp and we’re both fascinated by Liverpool. It’s now or never for us.”

Anfield is a sea of red as fans prepare for the arrival of the Liverpool team coach.

The coach is yet to leave the Titanic Hotel but fans are already waiting on Anfield Road for the arrival of the team.

It’s the last time that Jurgen Klopp will do the journey.

Jurgen Klopp has made two fans very happy after giving them a wave ahead of today’s game.

Alan Hayes, 40, and Alfie Hayes, 8, from Bootle, said: “We were just on a bike ride. We usually just come this way and back down to Bootle.

“I saw the fans here this morning and thought we’d have a wait to try and catch a glimpse.

“With him going as well to get one last glimpse of him before he leaves. I know they come here for most home games.

“We were ready to go we were doing one last ride up there and saw someone taking a picture and thought ‘no way there he is.’ Boss that. He gave us a little wave.”

Dad and daughter Jo Woods, 52, and Ken Woods, 81 from Bromborough. have one message to Jurgen Klopp.

It’s a day they didn’t want to happen and they’re probably thinking the same as all Liverpool fans.

They’ve seen the good times with Liverpool.

Ken has been a season ticket holder for about 30 years.

Danke, Jurgen. Feels like this is going to be the message of the day at Anfield.

I’ve been lucky enough to witness some of the best moments during Jurgen Klopp’s reign that you could wish for as a football fan.

A lot of them have been with Ryan.

Andre Buhr has travelled over from near Frankfurt in Germany to be in Liverpool for Klopp’s final game today. He is staying in a house by Anfield with his family. Andre said Klopp’s “whole aura and the way he gets along with players” is what makes him so special.

He said: “He’s not normal manager he’s more like a friend – and that makes this group of people so special. It gives power.”

Andre said he was hoping to see a match at Anfield for the first time next year to mark his 50th birthday “but then Jurgen told us he wanted to leave before then, and so I grabbed my chance and spent loads of money for a flight and ticket in February for hospitality.”

The Liverpool players aren’t on their way yet but fans have already gathered at the entrance for when they do arrive at Anfield.

It will be the final time Jurgen Klopp does this journey as Liverpool manager.

It will be a lot busier in an hour or so.

A lot of people at Anfield will be feeling the same was as Jack today.

It’s going to be an emotional afternoon.

Oliver Puffer, 52 (second from the right) and Andras Neef, 47, (centre) have travelled over from near Cologne in Germany to be here for Klopp’s final match as Liverpool manager. Oliver said: “He’s just a human being, he’s the normal one – I think that’s what made him so special.

Oliver added: He’s emotional and he’s here with his heart.” The group did a stadium tour at Anfield on Saturday which Oliver said left him with tears in his eyes ahead of Klopp’s final game today

Our reporter has spoken to a group who have travelled to Liverpool from Shropshire today.

Their favourite memories of Klopp’s reign at Anfield include winning the Champions League and Divock Origi’s injury-time winner against Everton.
