Former Liverpool stars Adam Lallana and Loris Karius are among the players released by Premier League clubs this week.

And the Reds themselves confirmed the exits of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip as they also published their retained list for the 2024/25 season.

Clubs are required to submit the names of players who will remain part of their squads for the new season, with the Premier League publishing a complete run-down of retained lists as well as released players and free agents on their website.

Among them are former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, who signed for the Reds for £25m from Southampton in summer 2014, and who would go on to make 178 appearances for the Reds, scoring 22 goals and helping the club win both the Premier League and Champions League under Jurgen Klopp.

He later moved to Brighton, where he became a fan favourite, making 95 appearances and scoring three goals. The 36-year-old said: “After taking a little time to think about where the football club is at, and having been away from my family for the last four years, I just feel it’s the right time.”

Karius, meanwhile, has also left Newcastle, where the German has served as back-up to goalkeepers Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka for the past two seasons. Karius made just two appearances in that time, one of which came in the League Cup final last year when the Magpies lost to Man Utd.
