Little Kitty, Big City: How To Emote

Express yourself purrfectly with these emotes.

Your friend Tanuki can help you get around quickly if you help them in return. By doing a bit of work, you can save yourself a lot of time and travel around the city in the blink of an eye. Here’s how to find Tanuki and help them with their project!

How To Free Tanuki

From where you meet Crow outside the apartment building, head along the side of the highway until you reach the construction site. Duck inside and make your way through the tunnel until you find a furry friend stuck in a cement pipe.

After Tanuki struggles for a minute, she’ll ask you for help. Go behind her and pull her tail to help her out. She’ll tell you about a project she’s been working on, but she needs feathers to get it working. That’s where you come in!

How To Collect Feathers

You’ll learn how to catch birds from the orange cat near the purple soccer net goal, but you can also start without that tutorial. Simple sneak up behind the birds and pounce to catch one.

If you’re having trouble catching birds, try luring them into place with bread or bagels!

When you catch and release a bird, you’ll earn a feather. Tanuki requests three feathers to get their project working. Once you bring her three feathers, Tanuki will show you have to manipulate space and time – otherwise known as fast travel.

How To Unlock Fast Travel

Unlocking fast travel is easy once you help Tanuki the first time. To access the Petwork (the system of fast travel points), you’ll need to bring Tanuki a feather for each of the sewer grates on the map. These are marked with special artwork to signal where they’re located on the map.

Bringing Tanuki a feather will activate the location as a fast travel point, allowing you to move freely between all unlocked points on the map. There are nine points in total:

  • Construction Site
  • Kitty’s Apartment
  • Produce Market
  • Playground
  • Pier
  • Duck Garden Shrine
  • Big Potato’s House
  • Convenience Store
  • Gecku Store
