Family and friends gathered to pay respects
Liam Payne’s funeral took place today as family and friends gathered to pay their respects. One Direction members, Harry, Louis, Zayn and Niall were all in attendance as well as mother of Liam’s son, Cheryl.
Liam, 31, died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. Following Liam’s death, fans around the world held vigils in his memory, including a shrine to the late star in his hometown of Wolverhampton.
The entrance of the church was decorated with with candle lanterns and white roses that had been arranged in surrounding shrubbery. Floral tributes were also left for the former One Direction star, including one that depicts bowling, an activity Liam reportedly had a love for.

Others included a red floral tribute with ‘son’ written and a blue one that read ‘Daddy’, a tribute from Liam’s son Bear. The 31-year-old singer and Cheryl have seven-year-old Bear together who they welcomed on 22 March 2017 and since their split they had co-parented for the past six years.
Following the death of the singer, Cheryl released a statement in which she said: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.
“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
Other guests included Liam’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, Girls Aloud singers Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.
