Liam Payne’s father Geoff has visited the hotel where his son died on Wednesday, stopping outside to read fans’ tributes and speak to a few of the many gathered.
The BBC reports that, following the death of the former One Direction star, his father Geoff arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday to arrange repatriation to the UK of his late son.
According to the BBC, Geoff first attended the city morgue, before arriving at the hotel in the early evening, and stopped on his way out to look at the many flowers, photographs and candles placed around a tree nearby. He also spoke to a few of the many fans gathered, and thanked them for their support.
Liam’s former One Direction bandmates, including Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, have all paid tribute to him in the last couple of days, along with Simon Cowell, who put the group together in 2010.
Cheryl Cole, the mother of Liam’s son, Bear, released a statement Friday, urging the media to remember that, “Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
