Liam Payne shared a sweet update on how much his seven-year-old son has grown up, and which of the two he looks most like.
The former One Director star, 31, posted a video to his Snapchat in which he told small details about his son Bear Grey Payne, whom he co-parents with his ex Cheryl.
Bear has been kept out of the public spotlight throughout his life, with his parents offering an occasional update online, like now.
In the clip, the singer said: ‘I didn’t get any dad socks yet though. I’m going to speak to my son in a little bit which I’m really excited about. Bless him. He’s getting so big now.
‘He’s a big boy and he looks like a mini-me. As if we needed any more me in the world,’ he explained with a smile on his face.
The rare snippet comes just a week after Cheryl shared an image of herself with Bear on a countryside retreat.
Earlier this year Liam also shared a photo of him looking at a billboard of Liam’s new single Teardrops with the caption: ‘I want to be on a billboard one day daddy.’
Liam and Cheryl first met in 2008 during X Factor auditions and eventually started dating in February 2016. Bear arrived just a year later, in March 2017, but coping with parenthood put a strain on their relationship and by July 2018 the celebrity couple had parted ways for good.
In 2022, Liam opened up about how often he sees his son, explaining it was ‘two times a week, three times a week sometime.
‘And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or dicking around somewhere else,’ he said, per People.
Payne added: ‘So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life, he needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.’
Ahead of the Girls Aloud reunion at the end of last year, Cheryl told British Vogue why she was keen to keep Bear out of the spotlight.
‘The problem is that I want Bear to have a normal childhood. I don’t want people recognising him on the street.
‘But he’s twigged that I’m famous. The other day he said, “How lucky am I to have famous parents?” I said, “It doesn’t matter.” He goes: “Yeah. But it’s pretty cool.”‘
