Liam Gallagher teases Oasis reunion lineup as he leads drive to engage with new generation of fans

Must read

Liam Gallagher has dropped further hints about what the full Oasis reunion will look like as he continues to engage with a new generation of fans on social media.

Fans have been speculating about who will join Liam and his brother Noel on stage next year after they announced they would be reforming the Britpop band for a mammoth tour of the UK and Ireland in 2025.

And the iconic frontman may have dropped the biggest hint yet as to who will be a part of the band’s lineup in one of his regular interactions with fans online.

Last month, one fan tweeted the singer and asked: ‘Bonehead, You, RKID, Gem [Archer], Andy [Bell], [Chris] Sharrock for Oasis reunion lineup, what do you say?’

In a response posted a week before the reunion was officially announced, Liam said: ‘Close.’

His prayers were seemingly answered this summer as both him and Noel announced that ‘the guns have fallen silent’ and they would be returning to play to the nation next year.

There is yet to be any announcements for who will join the Manchester rockers as part of the reformed band – which has six former members.

Co-founder and rhythm guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs is reportedly on board, but there have also been suggestions that ‘no other original Oasis member is expected to join the reunion’ – ruling out Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan and Tony McCarroll.

Drummer Alan White, who played with Oasis from 1995 until 2004, has shared a series of cryptic messages which suggest he might have got the call.

There are also reports that members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will step in to fill the remaining spots for next year’s shows.

This includes drummer Chris Sharrock – who played with Oasis on their final album and tour before they split up in 2009 – and guitarist Gem Archer, who was a member from 1999 onwards. Former bassist Andy Bell is also yet to comment.

Noel, 57, quit the band on August 28, 2009, saying he ‘simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer’.

Fans have been pleading with the brothers to regroup since they disbanded after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Reunion rumours intensified this month after both brothers teased on social media an announcement for 8am on Tuesday, August 27, amid reports they were ending their disagreement.

Confirming the Oasis Live 25 tour, they said: ‘The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.’

The 17-date tour is set to run from July 4 to August 17, kicking off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium before heading to Manchester’s Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium in London, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin.

But the band has faced criticism for their ticketing strategy after some 14million people across the UK battled to get their hands on coveted tickets.

Fans who struggled through hours-long queues for tickets for the 2025 tour were shocked at the cost of general standing tickets which had risen as a result of Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing policy, which saw the cost of tickets more than double in some cases.

In response, the band announced two more Wembley gigs on Wednesday night with rumours that even more concerts could be on their way.

The band will now also perform at Wembley on September 27 and 28 next year.

Tickets appeared on Viagogo for as much as £4,000 after they went on sale at the weekend, leaving fans furious.

But last night, the band said tickets bought on Viagogo could be cancelled as it looked to crack down on ticket resales.

Oasis also said they were ‘not aware’ that dynamic pricing would be used and that the ‘execution of the plan did not meet expectations’.
