Manchester United target Leny Yoro has taken to social media to hit out at ‘fake’ transfer claims being made about him.

The 18-year-old Lille defender has been linked with a move away from France this summer, and United have been showing significant interest in him.

Reports from France claimed on Tuesday that Lille had accepted a £42m offer from the Red Devils, while Rio Ferdinand urged the youngster to choose United over Real Madrid, Liverpool and PSG.

However, an account on X impersonated Yoro and claimed he had no interest in moving to Old Trafford.

‘I don’t want you @ManUtd. Leave me alone,’ the post read from an account with the X handle ‘Yoro Leny’.

Yoro replied to the claim by informing fans it was a ‘fake account’

It did not take long for Yoro to see it, and he quickly replied in a bid to ensure fans did not believe it by writing: ‘Fake account. You guys are psycho. Signal this account’.

Yoro’s statement indicates that a transfer to United remains a distinct possibility as Erik ten Hag aims to strengthen his backline.

United are keen on Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, while they also made a second offer for Everton centre back Jarrad Branthwaite earlier this week.

United had a £43m bid for Barnthwaite rejected last month, but have since returned with an improved offer of £50m, as exclusively revealed by Mail Sport.

Ten Hag has already lost Raphael Varane this summer after he left United at the end of his contract, while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are also facing uncertain futures.

Lisandro Martinez looks likely to be a guaranteed starter when fit next term, but who will partner him is less clear.

Yoro could be an option if United can get a deal over the line after he impressed in Ligue 1 last season.

Yoro made 32 league appearances for Lille as they finished fourth in Ligue 1 to qualify for Europe.

United can also offer Yoro European football after qualifying for the Europa League thanks to their FA Cup triumph in May.
