Lendlease signs £450m army barracks upgrade

The contracts, procured under the Defence Estate Optimisation, include the mostly new-build construction of live, work and train facilities estimated to be worth £450m.

Works to be carried out for the Army and DIO are:

  • Imjin Barracks – a new-build construction of living, working and training facilities on-site comprising of single living accommodation blocks, new garaging and workshops, additional administration buildings and improved gym facilities.
  • St David’s Barracks, Bicester – new build and refurbishment of living, working and training facilities on-site, which comprise an extension to existing mess blocks, enhancement to existing road infrastructure and a new build sports hall and gym facilities.
  • Beacon Barracks – new build and refurbishment of living, working and training facilities again comprising of new build single living accommodation, new build and refurbishment of existing administration buildings, refurbishment of workshop facilities and a new multi-use games area.

The works were awarded through the Ministry of Defence’s Strategic Alliance Contract, which is designed to facilitate long-term relationships built on working together through best practice and shared ideals of collaboration.

David Cadiot, Lendlease’s executive general manager for construction in the UK regions, said: “We’ve a proven track record of delivering projects to the very highest standards.
