Fatman Scoop, the globally renowned musician, has tragically passed away at the age of 53. The iconic artist had been performing at a free concert in Connecticut, USA, just hours before his untimely death.
Videos making rounds on social media show the late rapper delivering some of his biggest hits shirtless, shortly before his demise.
His tour manager Birch Michael, also known as Pure Cold, confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announced the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop,” a statement posted to Instagram read.
“You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop, Thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”
Pure Cold continued to honour his friend and colleague Isaac in the photo’s caption stating, “I am honestly lost for words..”, reports OK!.
He shared his gratitude by saying, “You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”
The tragic incident occurred at Town Centre Park in Hamden, Connecticut, when Isaac suddenly collapsed mid-show leading to chaos among fans.
Footage acquired by TMZ shows the musician walking offstage before falling to the ground, prompting immediate CPR attempts from medical staff as a concerned performer halted the music.
As the crowd awaited updates, one anguished voice cried out, “We want to know what happened to Fatman Scoop! ” while another expressed shock, exclaiming, “They’re doing CPR??”
“Nothing going on – on the stage. I just want to say this – Hamden, where y’all at, make some noise for me heavy baby,” the artist is heard addressing the audience in a captured video, moments before chaos ensues prompting fans to question what had befallen their beloved star.
As the video concludes, blurry images show the ‘Be Faithful’ singer being stretchered away, while an anxious fan’s voice pierces through: “Lord touch him – please Father, God touch him.”
Tributes have been pouring in from fans, with one saying: “RIP Fatman Scoop. I gotta spin this today,” referring to his iconic hit song Be Faithful.
Another added: “Losing fatman scoop is losing a huge part of culture. an essential part of music and his voice will literally live on forever. rest in peace.”
