Lady Gabriella has broken her silence after an intimate celebration of service for the life of her late husband was held in Kensington, west London.
Thomas Kingston, who married Lady Gabriella in 2019, died earlier this year aged just 45, leaving the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent bereaved. The war hero and financier died from a “catastrophic head injury” and was found dead at his parents’ home at the end of February.
Close friends and family of Mr Kingston, including some members of the royal family, attended the memorial service at St Mary Abbots church on Saturday, after a private funeral was held in March.
The King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales were not present.
A spokesperson for the Kingston family said: “Lady Gabriella and the Kingston family have been deeply touched by the outpouring of love, kindness and support they have received over the past difficult months.
“They were grateful today for the chance to celebrate – and give thanks for – the life of a wonderful man, among so many of those who knew and loved him too.”
Lady Gabriella made a surprise appearance at Royal Ascot earlier this week, this marked her second public appearance since the death of her husband, Tom Kingston, after she attended Trooping the Colour last Saturday.
Heartwarming images showed Zara Tindall warmly embracing Lady Gabriella Kingston at Royal Ascot. Ella, as she is known by her friends and family, was invited to join the royal procession by the King.
Mr Kingston died from a “traumatic head wound”, an inquest heard in March.
It was also previously revealed that a gun was found near his body in an outbuilding at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds.
It is believed that no one else was involved and that his death was not being treated as suspicious.
