Jurgen Klopp continued enjoying his post-Liverpool sabbatical as he turned up on stage with DJ Jamie xx in Germany on Saturday night. The former Reds boss was at an event in Berlin in association with his sponsors Adidas, who laid on a huge party ahead of Sunday’s European Championship final, and Klopp was one of the big names invited along.
The 2019 Champions League winner showed up to hand-deliver a number of Germany and Spain shirts to what appeared to be the thousands of fans in attendance midway through the Jamie xx set, which came after a performance from the Grammy award winning Honey Dijon.
Klopp was filmed on Instagram launching the shirts into the crowd on behalf of his sponsors as he continued making the most of his time away from management having left Liverpool at the end of the campaign in May.
The 56-year-old appeared in good spirits at the Adidas event, which was held at the Platz der Republik, a huge square in the centre of Berlin where the famous Reichstag building is situated.
The bash was held ahead of Sunday’s final between Spain and England with Klopp one of several famous faces from football invited that included former Spain and Barcelona star Xavi and ex-Chelsea and Manchester United star Juan Mata.
Klopp has been enjoying his first summer away from coaching since 2015 having attended the Champions League final as a guest of finalists Borussia Dortmund last month before returning to Anfield to see Taylor Swift on her Eras tour.
Klopp was also in the Olympiastadio on Sunday night as Spain beat England 2-1 to win the Euros for a fourth time.
On Friday, Liverpool confirmed Klopp was to become the first-ever honorary ambassador of the club’s official charity, the LFC Foundation.
Klopp said: “The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond. I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”
Klopp turned down an approach from the United States earlier this week to take over as head coach and is content to enjoy some time away having been at Anfield for nine, often intense years.
Meanwhile Mohamed Salah spent his Sunday off from pre-season at Wimbledon to watch the men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
The Liverpool star was at Centre Court to watch Alcaraz win his second successive Wimbledon tournament as he beat the legendary Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6.
Salah returned to training earlier this week after it was decided he would not be representing Egypt at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.
