After the fist pump, the King beamed in delight and pointed a finger toward West who broke out into laughter.

The King looked stylish in a tailored grey suit with a navy spotted tie and a pocket square.

The monarch was also pictured laughing with Declan Donnelly, the host of the awards, who joked about his partner Ant McPartlin not being present at the engagement after the duo announced the winners on Tuesday.

Donnelly said to the King: “Ant and I were there also but he’s not here today and sends his apologies, he’s got a week-old baby, he’s breastfeeding, or helping with.”

After the engagement, Donnelly said that the monarch “looked really well today,” adding: “He was in good form, good spirits, always has a laugh and joke which is lovely, has a fantastic sense of humour and spent time with all the young people.”

The monarch went on to chat with supporters and ambassadors of the Trust including Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, actor Martin Freeman and boxer Nicola Adams.

The Prince’s Trust Awards recognise young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life and had a positive impact on their local community.
