Kilkenny boss Derek Lyng could be without key defender Mikey Carey as they bid for a provincial five-in-a-row in Saturday’s Leinster SHC final against Dublin.
Carey picked up a lower leg injury in recent days and is awaiting scan results to determine the extent of the damage as he faces a race against time to feature against the Dubs.
The Young Irelands clubman starred in their Leinster round-robin victory against Wexford nine days ago but he is likely to miss the decider while Lyng also looks set to be without ace attacker John Donnelly.
As reported in the Irish Independent last week, the in-form Donnelly picked up a serious thumb injury in their win against the Model men and he is unlikely to play any part as the Thomastown clubman faces a spell on the sidelines.
