Prepare the countdown as it looks like a movie adaptation of 24 is again back in the works at 20th Century Studios.
Variety reports that the project is in early development and, at this stage, it’s not known whether Kiefer Sutherland would reprise his iconic role as Jack Bauer. There are also no plot details available yet.
A 24 movie was recently hinted at by Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer – who also executive produced the show – in an interview with MSNBC.
“We’ve built, over 30 years, over 100 different products and brands, whether it’s Backdraft which I’m now going to do today with Glen Powell, or whether it’s 24, a movie that we’re going to do in a very interesting way with Disney and Fox,” he explained.

As with the 24 movie, the Backdraft remake with Glen Powell has also not been officially announced, and 20th Century Studios hasn’t responded to the reports of the 24 movie being in development.
It’s not the first time that 24 has been planned to be adapted into a movie, so maybe don’t get too excited yet.
Discussion of a 24 movie has stretched back to 2005 while the show was still on the air. There has since been a TV movie called 24: Redemption as a result of the WGA strike in 2007 delaying season seven.
The last time Sutherland spoke about a 24 movie was when the Bauer-less series 24: Legacy was announced in 2016 (via TVLine).

He said that he had “no idea” if the movie would ever happen, or if we’ll ever find out what happened to Bauer after he surrendered himself to a Russian prison at the end of 24: Live Another Day.
Perhaps now the countdown is back on for the return of Jack Bauer.
All nine seasons of 24 are available to watch on Disney+.
