Speaking to People magazine, an unnamed insider said, ‘William is prioritising giving her all the time she needs to get better and the support, particularly to the children.’ According to sources, the Prince is ‘staying positive’ for his family, and relying on the ‘nuclear family unit’ of Kate’s supportive family; Carole, Michael, Pippa and James. Insiders went on to say Prince William has also developed a close bond with his father, who is also undergoing his own battle with cancer.

The latest update comes after Kensington Palace stressed the need for ‘space and time’ for the Princess to recover, with sources suggesting she won’t be returning to royal duty till the autumn at the earliest. ‘No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine,’ an insider told MailOnline last week, before suggesting that the Princess of Wales may continue to recuperate in private until autumn. ‘The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year.’

While King Charles has been eager to return to public engagements – despite Wednesday’s snap General Election announcement – the source reiterated the Princess’ call for privacy and space, reminding the public that ‘there is no need for her to be seen while she’s recovering.’

They continued: ‘It is a reflection of Her Royal Highness’ importance to the future of the Monarchy that she has been given as much time as she needs.’

Last week, Kate’s Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood unveiled a massive new report setting out the business case for prioritising early childhood. It has also announced several new initiatives, including funding for early years apprenticeships and leadership programmes, increased support for baby banks and creating welcoming spaces for families with young children.

It marks a landmark moment for the Princess, for whom the Early Years sector has been described ‘her life’s work’. Insiders have now confirmed that Kate has been ‘across every aspect of the report, despite her illness.’ Speaking to MailOnline, a royal aide confirmed, ‘The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the business task force. She has been kept up to date since the inception of the task force and she has read the report and been briefed on it.
