Kate Garraway’s pals ‘worried for her’ as she faces more family heartache

Must read

Kate Garraway‘s friends are said to be “seriously worried” about her as she faces fresh family heartache. The Good Morning Britain presenter, 57, is currently away from the show, after her father Gordon was reportedly rushed to hospital following a suspected stroke and heart attack.

A source later shared that Kate’s dad was “stable” under medical care, but that his health woes had “given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover”. They added to OK! Magazine: “Luckily Kate is due to be off work for a few weeks anyway so she can divide her time between the hospital whilst simultaneously looking after [her children] Darcey and Billy.

“After the horrible, heartbreaking year they have had, it’s so important to Kate that they try and have a normal summer break.”
Kate’s dad’s ill health comes just six months after her husband Derek Draper’s death aged 56, following a four-year health battle.

Now, as the presenter remains on “pre-arranged leave” from the show, her friends are said to be concerned for her. A source told Bella Magazine: “Kate’s pals are seriously worried about her wellbeing.

“Everyone just wishes Kate could have had a few years without more tragedy so soon after losing Derek.

“Kate is as stoic as ever. She really has been put through the mill she is determined to get through the other side.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Kate for comment.

Gordon is no stranger to the mother-of-two’s fans, following her many stories about her family and insight on Instagram.

Along with her now late husband Derek, and her mother Marilyn, Gordon supported Kate on the day she was awarded an MBE last year.

Kate was awarded the honour by Prince William for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.

At the time, the presenter had filmed two award-winning documentaries about her Derek’s health battle, which began as coronavirus in 2020.

The psychotherapist spent 13 months in hospital before returning home to round-the-clock care from carers and his family.

In December, the family faced more heartache when he was rushed back to hospital due to a cardiac arrest.

After weeks off air, Kate returned to Instagram on January 5 this year to announce that Derek had sadly died.

In March, she released the final documentary about her husband’s health journey titled Kate Garraway: Life After Derek.

At the time, Kate said of the film: “We had to find a way of allowing Derek’s voice to be heard and while having to finish it without him has been so hard, I am delighted that the film is a tribute to Derek and his incredible spirit.

“It’s also a tribute to all of those who fight on to make every second of life count, whatever is thrown at them.”
