Kamala Harris’s convention address helped to introduce potentially the first female president to America, as the candidate’s big primetime moment must do.

It channelled the greats of the past — notably Barack Obama, with her “promise to be a president for all Americans” but also Ronald Reagan, with her line that “we are the heirs of the greatest democracy in the history of the world” and had the responsibility to nurture it for future generations.
