Kai Havertz has sent a message to Arsenal fans after the disappointing end to his first season with the club.
Sunday saw the Gunners claim a 2-1 win over Everton in their final Premier League match of the season. However, the victory was not enough for Arsenal to win the league title with Manchester City beating West Ham to secure the title.
Goals from Takehiro Tomiyasu and Havertz won the game for Arsenal against the Toffees. However, there was understandable disappointment from the players, staff and fans at missing out on the title for a second consecutive season and another second-place finish.
Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea last summer in a £60 million deal. The Germany international has gone on to become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s team, making 51 appearances in all competitions with 14 goals and seven assists in his debut season.
After Arsenal’s campaign officially drew to a close with the final whistle against Everton, Havertz posted a message on social media. The 24-year-old expressed his gratitude to the club and the fans for their support in his debut season at the Emirates Stadium and outlined his optimism for the future.
“Where do I start,” Havertz wrote on Instagram. “My first season has been one which has helped me grow as a person and a player in many ways.

“Very grateful for all the support this season, from fans, staff and my teammates. It’ll take time to process everything but I know with this club we can achieve big things.”
It was not the first time that Havertz had spoken publicly following the conclusion of Arsenal’s season. The Gunners star gave an interview with TNT Sports, where he was asked about his emotions after missing out on the title race to Man City.
“Right now I can’t think about that,” said Havertz on Sunday. “Sometimes it’s not fair in football but we have to accept it.
“Football is hard. But hopefully, we can go again next year and give Arsenal fans what they deserve. But I can tell them next year we are going to be even better team, and we are going to give everything again.”
