Jose Mourinho could save Man United from £60m transfer problem

Must read

Fenerbahce are reportedly prepared to do everything within their means to sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro for Jose Mourinho’s next project.

Last season Casemiro struggled compared to his first year in England, and towards the latter stages was even told to seek a route out for his own sake by pundit Jamie Carragher. Fast-forward to summer after the transfer window’s opening, and it appears a pathway out of Old Trafford is emerging should the conditions align.

Following on from their initial rumour, Sporx now say Fenerbahce sporting director Mario Branco is in the process of starting his analysis of the 32-year-old’s potential transfer, weighing up the costs and benefits, and should their criteria match United‘s then there could be serious discussions over the summer months.

Mourinho is also thought to be intent on raiding his former club for a second player too – defender Victor Lindelof. They believe they can sign 29-year-old for a seven-figure fee, if reports are to be believed.

Regardless of selling defensive squad members such as Lindelof, Erik ten Hag is known to be in the market this summer for reinforcements at the back. They have started their search on the back foot with a rejected bid of £35m plus £8m in add-ons for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Englishman remains very much in the sights of Old Trafford chiefs, who are keen to recruit in this position. Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Wolves’ Max Kilman are similarly of interest, according to The Express, but ultimately with regards to the trio of targets and many other unnamed candidates already with Premier League clubs, United believe their asking prices are unrealistic – even for today’s market.
