That otter leave a mark.
A woman was left crying in a pool of her own blood after getting savaged by a gang of otters in Malaysia.
The unidentified victim had reportedly been jogging through Tanjung Aru Recreation Park in Sabah when she was beset by eight of the beasts, Viral Press reported.
Accompanying footage shows the water weasel octet fleeing the scene after the attack.
Meanwhile, the woman, who was wearing dark pink running tights and a black shirt, is pictured sitting on the curb in tears with blood visible on her arms and head and several gouges in her legs.
The victim was transported to a hospital, while a wildlife team was dispatched to the park to keep tabs on the otters.
Investigations found that the beasts — which reportedly live nearby — had entered the park to forage for food in the pond, according to Sabah Wildlife Department Director Roland Oliver Niun.
He explained that the otters had visited the park before without incident and that the attack was likely due to a “change in behavior” spurred by visitors feeding them.
To prevent future attacks, wildlife officials plan to reinforce the fence around the park and monitor the area to ensure none of the critters break in.
“We also ask the park manager to report if there is an otter sighting after the repairs are done,” said Niun.
Meanwhile, the public has been urged to avoid going near the fences or interacting with wildlife to mitigate the possibility of attacks.
That might seem overzealous, but this isn’t the first time someone in Southeast Asia has been beset by otters — which are in the same family as honey badgers and wolverines.
In 2021, a Singapore resident was hospitalized after getting accosted by a gang of the ferocious water frolickers, which reportedly bit him 26 times in 10 seconds.
“I actually thought I was going to die – they were going to kill me,” otterly-devastated victim Graham George Spencer recalled.
