Joe Lycett candidly admitted he spent his first weeks of fatherhood ‘doing a lot of crying’ as he spoke about welcoming his first child.

MailOnline confirmed last week the English comedian, 36, welcomed his first child – and he has now fondly described his first steps into parenting in a candid interview.

Speaking on the Parenting Hell podcast, he said: ‘I’ve done a lot of, I mean less so now, but the first sort of two weeks I did a lot of crying because I did a lot of nostalgia for the future and imagined what he would be like when he was 20 and then worried about him when he’s an old man and I can’t be there for him.’

During his appearance on the parenting podcast, Joe added: ‘The one thing that has surprised me is that I’ve got really into sport, that wasn’t on the bingo card.

‘I was in the States earlier this year and basketball was on in the bar I was in and the games are all on between midnight and 5am, so when you’re up doing the feed, there’s something live happening.

‘You sort of feel like the world is happening even though you’re up in the middle of the night.

‘So I’ve become a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers.’

He added: ‘They weren’t doing well but they’re winning the league now since I’ve become a fan. They’re unbeaten in 15 games. I’m mad on the stats, I know all the players’ names.’

Joe said on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s podcast that he is ‘bisexual’, having previously branded himself ‘pansexual’, which means attracted to someone regardless of their gender

The comedian had his baby son with his female partner, whose identity he is keeping secret, but he has previously jokingly referred to her as ‘Denise’.

The Late Night With Lycett star expressed how ‘immensely proud’ he is of her, saying she’s taken to motherhood like a ‘duck to water’.

MailOnline told last week how locals had regularly seen Joe out and about with his new baby, for confirming the tot was real.

One said: ‘He’s a lovely baby boy and we are all delighted for Joe and his partner. He takes the baby out for walks and even goes with him to his favourite local café. The baby absolutely exists, 100 per cent.’

A woman who runs a local shop said: ‘I have seen the baby and he’s really cute. I understand why people don’t believe Joe because he’s known for his pranks, and we all love him for that.

‘But I see Joe and the baby around quite a lot and this is not one of his famous pranks.’

Another local said: ‘We don’t know much about Joe’s partner but judging by her accent, she’s from Birmingham.

‘They’re seen together quite a lot, but we haven’t spoken to her that much, so it’s all quite mysterious as to who she is and how they met.’
