In court documents filed on Sept. 6, a Florida judge declared the exes legally single, ruling that their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
People obtained the documents on Sept. 10 and reported that the details of Sophie and Joe’s divorce settlement are confidential. The filing apparently suggests the agreement is “in the best interests of the parties and this family.”
Things then escalated on Sept. 21 when Sophie filed a petition in the Southern District of New York alleging that Joe was preventing their two daughters — Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2 — from returning to their “habitual” home in England by withholding their passports.
Joe’s representative vehemently denied that the children had been “abducted,” and the exes subsequently agreed to an interim consent order declaring that they must keep their daughters in the US until further notice amid their custody battle.
In May this year, Sophie opened up about co-parenting post-split, telling British Vogue: “I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children, and that’s all that I can ask for.”
