The former Top Gear host revealed earlier this year that he had purchased The Windmill in Asthill near Burford for around £1,000,000.
Renaming the watering hole as The Farmer’s Dog, Mr Clarkson opened ahead of schedule with a grand opening event on Friday, August 23.
Long queues formed outside as one couple from Gloucester even waited for four hours from 8am to be at the front of the line.

Mr Clarkson spoke to the crowds outside the new pub and was on hand at the location throughout the day to help his staff.
The 64-year-old suggested that all he had to do was open a cinema now in order to be working in three of the hardest industries.
Asked which was going to be harder – farming or being a pub landlord – Clarkson replied: “If I opened a cinema, that would be all three.
“They are the three disastrous industries to be in.

“I don’t know about running a pub yet as we haven’t done it. Farming is difficult, we’ve got a sick pig which is why I was a bit late getting here this morning.”
“We wanted to have that restaurant on the farm last year and we couldn’t, and pubs, they are all for sale.”
“So, we thought instead of building a restaurant we would buy a pub.”
