A SKY Sports legend has blasted a Scots hotel over a “rip-off charge”.
Jeff Stelling, who hosts the Breakfast show on talkSPORT, appeared at a Q&A at Hamilton Town House.
He was booked in to stay at the Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park hotel following the event on Thursday night.
But he was left raging over a “money-making rip-off” policy.
Jeff claims he was told to either wait two-and-a-half hours or pay £10 an hour to check in before 3pm, even though the room was ready.
He wrote on X: “Hang your heads in shame Hilton Hotels. Room ready at Hamilton Park but have to wait two and a half hours or pay £10 an hour to check in before 3.
“Money-making rip-off.”
Fans flocked to the comments to react to the fee.
One wrote: “Unbelievable Jeff! You’d have been better off staying longer in Dunfermline.
“Great show last night, really enjoyable stories and great to see you.”
Another said: “Paying to check in to a hotel early is the worst rule ever. I just don’t understand it.”
A third added: “This is the biggest scam going.”
A fourth weighed in: “Most if not all hotels do this, it’s a joke. Check-out times seem to be getting earlier too along with check-in times being later.”
Responding to Jeff’s post, Hilton Honours said on X: “Sorry to hear we let you down. If you need assistance, we’re here to help! Just shoot us a DM with more details.”
A description of Thursday night’s event read: “During the evening Jeff will share anecdotes from his amazing career that saw him rise to fame as the recognisable face of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday and behind-the-scenes anecdotes. He will be joined on stage by Bianca Westwood his Sky Colleague as she hosts and roasts the anchorman!
“Jeff joined Sky Sports Soccer Saturday in 1994 and has presented almost every episode and worked with some legendary football stars from George Best, David Beckham, Roy Keane, and many more, too many to mention!
“On the night Jeff will also be joined on stage with very special guest Charlie Nicholas as they chat all things football.”
