Jay Blades has driving charge dropped as police ‘unavailable’

Jay Blades has had a charge of driving while using a mobile phone dropped after police offered no evidence.

The Repair Shop presenter, 54, who is also facing a separate court matter relating to alleged coercive and controlling behaviour towards his estranged wife, appeared in Walsall magistrates’ court on Tuesday.

He had entered a plea of not guilty to using a handheld mobile device while driving in Wombourne, Staffordshire, on April 2, 2023. But the prosecutor Zulqarnain Saeed confirmed the Crown had offered no evidence as the police officer who was due to give evidence was “unavailable” and therefore the case could not proceed.
