It looked as though ITV viewers were less than impressed by Carol Vorderman’s appearance on James Martin’s cooking show. During a repeated episode, fans saw the celebrity chef speak to Carol about the beginning of her career.

However, it wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the guest line-up, with many admitting they were turning the programme off.

@KarenlovesGB added: “Oh f**k off Carol Vorderman ruining James Martin Saturday Morning. Can’t watch it with that squawk.” (sic) @harrietdalbyy wrote: “James Martin is smiling through gritted teeth here. Poor bloke can’t get a word in edgeways.” (sic)

Although there were some people who were thrilled to see the 63-year-old on the show. Responding to a video Carol shared on Twitter, @Nick23904465 said: “Great to see you on James Martin Saturday Morning Kitchen.” (sic)

With @DaveJeanes tweeting: “Is it me or does Carol Vorderman get better looking every year? Like a fine wine…” (sic)

During the repeated episode, James revealed it was the first time that Carol had ever been on the programme, despite the duo’s friendship going back years.

As she joked: “I know you have asked me many times, I’ve no excuse have I?!

“You do realise though, if you cook me something that I really like, you’re not going to get rid of me.”

While James prepared his BBQ seafood dish, the pair started speaking about Carol’s long-standing career.

Although many know the 63-year-old for her presenting roles, most famously Countdown, she initially wanted to be an engineer.

Giving more background information, Carol explained that she only ever wanted to be an RAF fighter pilot as she grew up around machinery when working with her stepdad.

However, after moving to Leeds, her mum heard of a new channel that was being developed and their programme Countdown.

Carol revealed her mum wrote to the bosses, pretending to be her, forged Carol’s signature with a photo of her from graduation and sent it off.

She said: “I was quietly pleased she’d done it but never thought for a second I’d even get a phone call and I did!”

The presenter was part of the show for 26 years before stepping down in 2008.

James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen is available to watch on ITVX.
