Jack Revill, AKA Jackmaster, has died aged 38.
The Scottish DJ’s family confirmed the news on Instagram today, October 12th. “It’s with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster,” the post read. “Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of October 12th, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.”
“His family—Kate, Sean, and Johnny—are utterly heartbroken,” the post continued. “While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss.”
Cofounder of Numbers and a regular on the international tour circuit, Revill was one of the most prominent DJs of his generation.
Born in Glasgow in 1986, he cut his teeth at local institution Rubadub, landing a job at the legendary record shop aged just 14, before becoming a regular at techno party Monox aged 17.
Revill’s reputation as a performer, radio presence, label boss and eager back-to-back sparring partner of other DJs vaulted him from hometown parties like Dress 2 Sweat—a precursor to Numbers—onto the global club and festival circuit. By the mid-2010s, he was one of the most in-demand DJs in the world.
Following a widely publicised apology for inappropriate behaviour in 2018, Revill continued to tour and release music throughout the 2020s. His final show took place last month at Hï Ibiza.
