ITV BGT fury after semi-finalist ‘robbed’ of spot in finale as another ‘fix’ row erupts: ‘She was so good!’

Britain’s Got Talent aired its first live show of the year on Monday, with the first of this series’ finalists confirmed.

Following weeks of auditions on the ITV show, it was time for the successful acts to fight for their place in the final, but the results of the first show left some fans fuming.

Monday’s episode saw musician Sven Smith, dog act The Trickstars, child dancer Trey Braine, roller-skaters Duo Stardust, singer Taryn Charles, comedy act Bikoon!, opera singer Innocent Masuku and the Ssaulabi Taekwondo Troupe all take to the stage.

Following a public vote, Trickstars, Innocent Masuku and Ssaulabi were confirmed as being in the top three, all with the chance of making it through to the next stage of the competition.

Opera star Innocent Makukun made it straight through after receiving the most public votes, so the judges had to choose between the other two acts.

They ended up saving Ssaulabi, who will also go through to Sunday’s final show, while Trickstars had to bid farewell to their time in the show.

Plenty of viewers blasted the results though, with many claiming London-born music teacher Taryn Charles was “robbed”.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans expressed their disappointment, with one writing: “I loved Taryn tonight. I hope she is given a wild card at the end of the week as she’s got a brilliant voice and I loved this version of Teddy Swims – Lose Control. #BGT.”

A second took issue with the performances: ” The #BGT scouts have travelled far and wide this year getting so called talent to appear. Just one big fix.”

“Erm Taryn was robbed #BGT,” a third fan fumed while another agreed: “Poor Taryn – she was so good. #BGT.”

“How did Taryn not get into the top 3!!?? #BGT,” another asked, but others did appear to agree with the result.

Responding, one person remarked: “If she was the only singer on tonight she might have done, but Innocent Masuku blew her out the arena.” (sic)

Now the auditions are over, the show will air every weeknight this week with more semi-final acts before Sunday’s grand finale.

The final round of auditions also sparked a huge backlash however, with Sunday’s viewers accusing the show of being “a fix”.

After singer Ace Clurk was asked by judge Simon Cowell to perform another song, which he managed to impress the music mogul with, some viewers didn’t buy that the move wasn’t staged.

Many admitted they had “had enough” of the “fixed” programme due to the fact he was given the chance to perform more than once.
