While he may not have ended up being crowned this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner, magician Trixy’s finale performance is certainly one that will live long in the memory.
Trixy finished in sixth place on the night after performing his magic act that had a rather musical theme.
After taking to the stage for his performance, Trixy asked Simon Cowell to pick a number between one and 52.
Cowell opted for 34, prompting Trixy to get his phone out, scroll to his notes app, and reveal a long list of musicians.
At number 34 was Peter Andre and a few moments later, 52 people holding up giant playing cards to cover their faces were brought to the stage.
Cowell then had to choose a random playing card from Trixy’s regular deck in his hand and the person on stage whose card matched the judge’s had to stay on stage.

As the trick was edging towards its conclusion, Trixy teased Cowell that he’d known all along what number and playing card he’d pick.
The person left on stage turned the card to reveal a giant sticker of Cowell’s face on the sticker and a few moments later, dropped the card completely to reveal their identity.
Of course, it was Andre and the crowd burst into rapturous applause that Trixy had managed to unveil the pop star on stage.
However, while Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli were stunned as to how Trixy pulled off the routine, some ITV viewers are convinced they’ve worked out how he did it.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan suggested: “He obviously has his notes shared with someone else who edited number 34 as he didn’t open it up until after Simon choose #BGTFinal #BGT.”
A second similarly claimed: “Surely anything with a notes app can be faked, it’s linked to iCloud, couldn’t anyone change it while he was stood messing around, anyway, #bgt.”
Elsewhere, a third brutally critiqued: “Literally could’ve had someone backstage editing the notes app… that was the worst magic act I’ve ever seen #BGT.”
“#BGT his notes could easily have been modified externally,” a fourth echoed.
However, another offered a different explanation: “He had 52 versions of his notes, with Peter Andre being a different version. Every card in his deck was 4 of diamonds.”
It wasn’t just armchair detectives who reacted to Trixy’s routine, however, as several BGT fans were also quick to praise the budding magician for his finale performance.

“No way!!! Trixy is an unreal magician! Unbelievable! #BGT #BGTFinal,” one fans complimented.
And a second agreed: “Trixy is very likeable and has a future in magic I’m sure. Now obviously it’s not magic so I am trying to work out how he did it. Esp as Simon changed the card. Liked him a lot. #BGT #BritainsGotTalent #Trixy.” (sic)
Sadly for Trixy, the Andre twist wasn’t enough to bag him a spot at the Royal Variety Performance as Sydnie Christmas was announced as this year’s BGT winner.
However, the singer’s victory was soured somewhat by the fact several fans accused the show of being a “fix” given her previous career in the performing arts.
