Helldivers 2 has its share of quirks, with some being good for the game, such as being able to emote mid air and somehow surviving. While others can really hinder your ability to complete a mission, such as your Stratagem bouncing away from its intended position.

U/Fun_Monk8176 took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to discuss the frustrating mechanic that causes Stratagems to sometimes bounce off the ground when thrown to be called in. “I know we’ve all dealt with it. You find the perfect spot to throw down your turret, and it just bounces off in some random direction making it completely useless shooting a wall or your teammates,” they said.

“You employ a good strategy about where to place it, try to execute it, and cannot because of some weird mechanic. The worst part probably, is the inconsistency of it. Sometimes they bounce, sometimes they don’t. There seems to be no pattern. I thought I had it figured one day by just throwing it straight down, but even that doesn’t always work.”

This is one of the most frustrating aspects of playing a mission, due to it being so inconsistent. Like the Reddit user, I have had many turrets bounce away from where I wanted to call them in which made them useless due to the position where they landed. This issue also doesn’t seem to matter what the floor material is.

Hopefully, this is something that the Helldivers 2 developers can fix in the future, or make more consistent with it bouncing off certain materials and sticking to others. Calling in Eagle or Orbital strikes sometimes needs to be precise otherwise they will miss their target. Turrets can end up not being able to see the target and resupplies can end up landing somewhere too dangerous to grab them.

Arrowhead Game Studios has been incredibly good at fixing issues recently, with there being frequent updates released for Helldivers 2 over the past few weeks. So with this being mentioned online now, it is possible that the developers could see it and look to make things more consistent.
