Nearly 500 people have been killed after Israel unleashed dozens of airstrikes against what it said were Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
Israelijets bombed southern and central Lebanon on Monday as Binyamin Netanyahu urged people to stay clear of Hezbollah positions. “Israel’s war is not with you; it’s with Hezbollah. For too long Hezbollah has been using you as human shields,” the Israeli prime minister said, accusing Hezbollah of placing missiles in homes.
“We must take out these weapons … please get out of harm’s way now. Once our operation is finished you can come back safely to your homes.”

After a day of military action, Lebanon’s health ministry said that at least 492 people had died in the strikes, including 35 children and 58 women.
