Ipswich Town have an £18million deal in place to sign winger Jaden Philogene from Hull City.
Personal terms are agreed on a five-year contract, with the 22-year-old expected to join Kieran McKenna’s side as things stand.
Barring a late twist, Philogene will undergo a medical in the coming days before completing a switch to Portman Road — however the situation is not yet closed.
Aston Villa have matching rights for Philogene, who they sold to Hull last year, until Wednesday and are ready to activate their clause. But Villa acknowledge that it will be the player’s decision.
Crystal Palace and Everton remain in contention.
The Athletic reported on Sunday that Philogene’s Hull team-mate Jacob Greaves had permission to undergo a medical at Ipswich while talks continued between the clubs over Philogene.
Ipswich had tabled a joint offer worth in the region of £35m plus add-ons for the two players, though they may end up as separate transactions.
Philogene garnered attention with 12 goals and six assists in 33 appearances across all competitions in 2023-24.
Starting his career at Villa, he came through their academy and made three first-team appearances before joining Hull last September in a £5m deal.
Philogene also recorded four appearances and three goals for England’s Under-21s during the 2025 European Championship qualifiers.
