iPhone 16 predictions hint at two new buttons, AI chatbot and surprise color

THERE’S a new iPhone coming – and we’ve got a pretty good idea of what it’s going to be like.

So buckle up, Apple fans.

In September, we’re probably going to see the launch of the iPhone 16.

We won’t know exactly for sure until the big day, but thanks to leaks, rumors, and a bit of educated guesswork, there’s lots to look forward to.

What we know for certain is that the iPhone 16 will run on Apple’s new iOS 18 software.

That’s because the company announced it earlier this year, and it’s expected to launch on the new iPhone.

That means at least some versions of the iPhone 16 will have something called Apple Intelligence.

This is an AI feature that lets you create custom emoji with AI and even generate illustrations of your friends and family.

You’ll be able to ask ChatGPT questions directly with the help of Siri, and talk to Siri in a much more natural way.

The new update also lets you change the color of Home Screen app icons and place them out of the usual grid order.

And you can schedule text messages and loads more.

FRESH APPLE

As usual, we’ll probably see the iPhone 16 come in different sizes.

Normally that means two cheaper models, plus two costlier and more powerful Pro devices.

There’s no evidence that format will change, also it’s rumored that the Pro models might grow slightly in terms of screen size.

We’re also expecting to see Apple shift to vertical lenses on the iPhone 16, rather than the current camera arrangement which has them offset diagonally.

This will hopefully mean the regular iPhone 16 models can shoot the fancy 3D spatial video that you can watch inside Apple’s Vision Pro headset – just like the current iPhone 15 Pro.

We’ll still likely see a range of colors on all four iPhone 16 models, although it was rumored the Pro devices would get a new Rose option.

BIG BUTTON

The iPhone 16 is expected to get the Action Button that replaces the mute switch.

We saw this on the iPhone 15 Pro last year. It’s a great feature because you can make it do basically anything – open the camera, launch Shazam, or call your mom for a nice chat.

We may also potentially see a new capture button for taking photos.

A big upgrade will come in the form of a brand-new processor.

This year we’re expecting the A18 chip, which will probably bring some performance and battery life improvements – as well as a bit more computing heft to power some of the new AI features.

We’ve got no word on pricing yet, but expect roughly similar retail costs to last year.

Expect a reveal on Tuesday, September 10, pre-orders on September 13, and an in-store release on Friday, September 20.
