Intel Core Ultra 200S processors announced

Must read

The time has arrived. The days of Intel Core i5, i7 and i9 are over. Now, we have Intel Core Ultra for desktop processors. The new Core Ultra 200S desktop processors are based on the Arrow Lake architecture, with Intel taking design elements from its mobile processors to improve efficiency on desktop machines.

If you would prefer to get the news in video format, Leo has a full breakdown of the specs and features below:

Here is the spec breakdown for the Core Ultra 200 desktop CPU line-up:

CPU Cores/Threads Xe GPU cores NPU TOPS Max Boost Speed (GHz)
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K 24/24 (8P + 16E) 4 13 5.7
Intel Core Ultra 7 265K 20/20 (8P + 12E) 4 13 5.5
Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF 20/20 (8P + 12E) 0 13 5.5
Intel Core Ultra 5 245K 14/14 (6P + 8E) 4 13 5.2
Intel Core Ultra 5 245KF 14/14 (6P + 8E) 0 13 5.2

With Arrow Lake, Intel has put its primary focus on power consumption, leading to an up to 58 percent reduction in package power compared to Raptor Lake. However, this does come at a big of a performance cost, with the Core Ultra 9 285K hitting lower benchmarks in certain titles compared to the Core i9-14900K. However, in most cases, it should be on par in gaming. We’ll have to wait for reviews to analyse a wider range of gaming benchmarks to get the full picture here.

The Core Ultra 200 desktop CPUs will be available starting on October 24th. Leo already has his hands on some of the new processors, so expect a review from us later this month.

Prices start at $294 USD for the Core Ultra 5 245KF, or $309 for the K variant. The Core Ultra 7 265K will hit the market at $394 and the Core Ultra 9 285K will be available for $589.
