Influencer Breckie Hill shut down online speculation that she had an affair with Barry Keoghan.
“I just recently got out of the hospital. I got into a skiing accident and I broke my spine,” Hill, 21, said in a Saturday, December 7, TikTok video. “Now that I’m out of the hospital, I just wanted to make this video and address these rumors that have been circulating all throughout the internet.”
Hill continued, “To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry. I have never encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV from watching Saltburn.”
Us Weekly confirmed earlier this month that Keoghan, 32, and Sabrina Carpenter had split after nearly one year of dating. Around the same time, rumors swirled that the breakup occurred due to infidelity on Keoghan’s behalf. A source denied the allegations to Us, noting that the Irish actor was a “very faithful and loyal” boyfriend to 25-year-old Carpenter.
The insider insisted to Us that no third party played a part in Keoghan and Carpenter’s breakup, promising, “Barry was very faithful and loyal to her, and very devoted to her happiness. Barry’s very focused on his career and being a dad [to his 2-year-old son, Brando].”
In her Saturday upload, Hill explained why she had recirculated the speculation.
“I reposted this video [of the rumors] that showed up on my ‘For You Page,’ claiming that I was home-wrecking Sabrina Carpenter’s relationship just simply because I thought it was so ridiculous,” Hill explained in her video. “I’m sorry, but if I really was the one getting with Barry, why in the world would I be reposting about it?”
She added, “Coming from someone who has been cheated on in several different relationships, I would never want to home-wreck any relationship or put any girl through that pain ever. … This whole story is so crazy.”
According to Hill, she only reposted the video while “laying in a hospital bed, thinking how crazy it is that someone thought I was home-wrecking Sabrina.”
“Me home-wrecking her relationship? That would never happen,” Hill said. “No that has all been said, I just want to say, I have never gone through a worse time in my life. While having a broken back and just constantly being told the worst possible things that you can imagine, it’s gotten really bad. Hopefully, this clears things up.”
Hill also pleaded with her followers to “stop spreading rumors so quickly and tearing other people down” without knowing the truth.
“Take everything you see on the internet with a grain of salt and just be kind,” Hill concluded.
Keoghan and Carpenter first met in 2023, becoming an exclusive couple in January of this year. They made their red carpet debut at May’s Met Gala, months before Keoghan appeared in Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” music video. They ultimately called it quits earlier this month, with another source telling Us that the pair split over busy schedules.
“They are cordial and it was not contentious,” the second insider shared. “Both agreed it wasn’t working. That was something they struggled with, being in different places all the time.”
After the breakup, Keoghan also deleted his Instagram account.
“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to,” he wrote in a statement shared via X on Saturday, December 7. “I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where too many lines are being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract me from my family and my work.”
He added, “Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine, dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.”
Keoghan noted that he only spoke up so that his son, Brando, wouldn’t have to read about the rumors one day.
