Teletrac Navman names new chief operations and financial officer

Teletrac Navman has appointed Ricardo Buranello as its new chief operations and financial officer to drive growth across the company’s customer portfolio.

Buranello, most recently serving as the senior vice president of Telit Cinterion, has a proven track record of success in areas including sales and business development, general management, finance and M&A.

During his time at Telit, the company saw major restructuring and turn-around that delivered significant growth and profitability.

He said: “The business is well established and now, with its unique position in the alternative energy market, has huge growth potential built on a solid foundation of leading products, services and consultancy.”

Teletrac Navman CEO, Alain Samaha, added: “We’re excited to welcome Ricardo to Teletrac Navman and look forward to his contributions to our leadership team as we look to build the future.

NAMA appoints Liam Quegan as chairman 

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) has named Liam Quegan as its new chairman.

The managing director of Cox Automotive UK’s Wholesale Group succeeds Andrew Walker.

“We are thrilled to welcome Liam Quegan as our new chairman,” said Paul Hill, NAMA spokesperson.

“Liam brings a wealth of experience in the automotive and financial services industries to his new role. His extensive experience and leadership skills will undoubtedly be invaluable as we continue to support and advance the motor auction industry.”

Quegan added: “I’m delighted to be taking over the position of chair of the National Association of Motor Auctions.”

Quegan has been in the automotive industry for almost a decade and has been leading Manheim Auction Services for almost half of that time. He said: “I’m excited to use my industry knowledge and experience, alongside my absolute passion for the sector, to continue being the voice of UK motor auctions nationwide.”

“This industry is dynamic and ever evolving” he added. “NAMA seeks to represent motor auction companies, of all sizes. That’s why, as an organisation, we never sit still – wanting to continuously improve, proactively engaging in key issues, and setting clear best practice standards.”

Extra MSA appoints Michael Grantham as environmental, social and governance manager

Extra Motorway Service Area (MSA) has appointed Michael Grantham as its environmental, social and governance manager.

Grantham’s interest in sustainability was first sparked while studying engineering at Newcastle University.  

His passion for finding solutions to mitigate the world’s climate challenge has grown, implementing ESG strategies for several leading real estate businesses over the past eight years.

He said: “I join Extra at an exciting time, where there is a real appetite to push the ESG standards of motorway service stations, as well as being at the forefront of the UK’s net zero vehicle transition.”

G3 Vehicle Auctions names new auctioneers

Michael Bearder and Sam Magee have been appointed senior auctioneer and LCV auctioneer respectively, at G3 Vehicle Auctions.

The appointments follow the acquisition of its new 14-acre Auction facility in Bedford. 

Bearder comes with 15 years’ experience from the likes of BCA and Manhem, and was most recently sales operation manager at BCA, leading their national auctioneer team.

Magee has 17 years’ experience in the remarketing industry and most recently was head of LCV role at City Auction Group.

He previously served as a group auctioneer for Manheim for seven years, preceding his 10 years at BCA. 

Group auction manager, Liam Corcoran, said: “The expansion of our auctioneering team comes at a pivotal moment as we double our remarketing capacity with the acquisition of our Bedford branch. Michael’s wealth of experience enhances our well-established team.

“Whilst Sam brings his personality and significant LCV insight into the fold to help us launch the full sale schedule at G3 Bedford centre this week.”

Aston Barclay names Eddie Thomson as chief operating officer

Aston Barclay has named Eddie Thomson as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Thomson brings a wealth of industry experience to Aston Barclay, with previous roles including national operations director for SMA, sales and operations director for BCA, and most recently head of business development for Adesa.

In the newly created role of COO, Thomson will be part of the executive leadership team at Aston Barclay Group and will oversee all of Aston Barclay’s auction operations, as well as strategic projects.

“I am thrilled to be joining Aston Barclay,” he said. “I look forward to working with our customers to maximise the conversion of their vehicles, as well as reducing the number of days it takes to sell them.”

His appointment comes at a period of growth for the business, including an influx of new vendor partnerships and the launch of a new sale at its Chelmsford centre in response to buyer demand.

Greg MacLeod, executive chairman at Aston Barclay, said: “We have recently extended our operating hours to provide greater flexibility for customers, and Eddie’s appointment as COO further demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent customer service.
